Proposition "H8"

It is actually Proposition 8. an initiative measure on the 2008 California General Election ballot titled Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry. But after reading a little about it "Hate" is the core value behind it. I also found a website that has more "donate now", support and merchandise links than any information on the proposition. Typical. The tagline reads "Protect marriage". What a f#@*ing joke. The other thing it said was "Restoring marriage and protecting California children". Reading this made me sick. Fear is what drives these people. I have been married for 20 years, I have two children, 19 and 14. I have never fealt that my marriage was threatened by a same sex couple or the fact that they could be married. I know my children have never been in danger or have required protection from a same sex marriage. In fact my wife and I have several friends who are same sex couples. We have felt more comfortable leaving our children in their company rather than our own family members. Okay, lets get to the marriage is a sacred union and needs to be protected and restored. If that is the case, why are so many opposite sex marriages a failure. There are millions of divorced opposite sex marriages every year. These opposite sex couples make a promise to another human being, in the presence of God almighty as well as other witnesses, to stay with one another until death. Until death. I can't imagine this is caused by the fact that same sex marriage is an option? This thing makes no sense to me other than some people are very fearful. If they want to restore or protect marriage, then they should change the Califonia Constitution to make it illegal to get a divorce. You would be prosocuted as a criminal and serve jail time if you broke your promise to another person of the opposite sex. Right? Protect our children? I really don't have much of a point other than all of Gods children deserve the same rights. If two people, two human beings LOVE eachother, and want to promise that they will stay with that person for the rest of their life, then they should have that opportunity. Proposition 8 was created by fear. Hate is the result of Fear. Hate hurts people, it doesn't protect anything. I know how I am voting. So does my opposite sex wife of 20 years.
